Newest Onimusha slices into American PlayStation 2s next spring; demon-battling begins in Japan in January.
TOKYO--It won't be long before wannabe samurai in Japan and the US will be able to get their demon-slashin' on. Capcom today revealed the release dates in both regions for Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, the fourth installment of the Onimusha franchise. The PlayStation 2 game will ship to stores in Japan in January of 2006, and it will ship to North America two months later. It is the first game in the series since Onimusha 3 was released in early 2004.

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams takes place 15 years after the conclusion of Onimusha 3. Although the series' longtime villain, Oda Nobunaga, has fallen, the Genma demons have once again come back under the control of his successor, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The main hero in Dawn of Dreams will be Soki, a young warrior who (surprise) possesses incredible mystical power. Like Onimusha 3, he'll be joined by a number of companions throughout the course of the game.

Capcom also announced today that the themes for Dawn of Dreams will be sung by popular Japanese pop artist Ayumi Hamasaki. The opening theme, "Startin,'" and ending theme, "Rainy Day," are both all-new compositions.
