Nhật bản phải bắt đầu một cuộc tái thiết lâu dài từ thảm họa kép động đất và sóng thần xãy ra tại vùng đông bắc Nhật Bản 11/3 vừa qua, với cảnh báo nguy cơ lớn từ sự cố tại nhà máy điện hạt nhân Fukushima lên mức cao nhất tương đương với sự kiện Chernobyl ở ukrainan 25 năm trước, các cuộc tìm kiếm thi thể nạn nhân vẫn còn tiếp tục, cuộc sống tạm bợ của người dân, và những cuộc biểu tình chống dử dụng năng lượng hạt nhân, Nền kinh tế có thể bị trì trệ gián đoạn, việc dọn dẹp các đống rác thải từ thảm họa, người dân vẫn còn đang lo sợ bởi các đợt dư chấn và nhiều người tiếp tục để tang những người đã mất.
